Two Dams and an Overlook
On Sunday, we explored Hell's Canyon. We left our camper at the campground, because these were not really good roads to be hauling extra weight. There were lots of twists and turns, but the scenery was absolutely gorgeous. We crossed Oxbow Dam and saw Hell's Canyon Dam before crossing the Snake River and traveling on the Oregon side to the Hell's Canyon overlook. On our drive to the canyon, we passed through some small towns of Idaho. You always see interesting things in the small towns. I enjoyed seeing this sign in one of the towns: "Stay away from negative people. They have a problem for every solution."
We traveled once more through a narrow canyon with lake and river views adjacent to mountains, with lots of volcanics on this drive. The temperature was very hot, with a high of 110 in the canyon. It was only slightly cooler in Boise - 109.
We saw lots of signs warning of animal crossings. There was the usual deer and cattle; we also saw warnings of mountain goat and bighorn sheep - although we didn't see any such animals. We also saw a sign that said "Game Crossing" and we did see some of that: at one point there were a couple of people playing Scrabble, a little further down some people were playing Monopoly. Just kidding; different kind of game.
Here are some pictures from today's adventure.

Beautiful country! Definitely the Wild West, seems like old western movies had the snake river in them!
ReplyDeleteYes, we going to stay away from those negative people! Lol

Gorgeous country! I had no idea of the beauty of Idaho. I had always heard of the beauty of Oregon. I will put that on my bucket list. Love the saying! Always be positive in every way that you can is my motto. 😊
