You Never Want to see That on Vacation
Tuesday, July 9 - On Monday, we started out on our trip, all packed, everything shut down in the house - water turned off, internet shut down, food packed or given away - and off we go! So how far do you think we got the first day? Most of you know us and how we travel - getting in as many miles in a day as we can. Go, go, go is our travel motto. Well, I write this blog post today from our location of our first night of "vacation". I come to you from Cranberry Township. That's right! Still at home. We got about 15 miles down the road on the Pennsylvania Turnpike and the check engine light on the truck came on. Well, that's not good. You never want to see that on vacation. We decided that since we were still close to home, we should turn around and get it checked out. So we brought the truck in to get worked on, and retreated to a house with no food, no water, and no internet. Now we're really "roughing it!" As it turned out, the truck had an issue and would take some time to fix. We'll be picking it up later today (Tuesday), drive around a little to make sure the check engine light doesn't come back on and that the problem has been fixed, and hopefully be ready to leave tomorrow - this time for real - on our vacation. We are grateful that the problem happened so close to home (the silver lining!) and thanks for all of your prayers. Hopefully my next post really will come from somewhere between here and Seattle, and from the comfort and luxury of our camper rather than our luxury-deprived house!
