Leavenworth, WA
On Thursday, we drove from Kennewick through Yakima and Wenatchee (you gotta love the names of these towns in Washington) through the Columbia River gorge again. We saw many, many orchards, especially apple orchards - those famous Washington apples! Some of the orchards were labelled and one of the orchards we passed was fuji apples! My favorite! I was tempted to jump out of the truck and go pick a few.
As we traveled we crossed the Columbia River a few times (that Columbia River is everywhere!). Some of the gorge scenes were like a mini Grand Canyon. The beautiful scenery was continuous as we drove. Really, how much beauty can a person handle?!!

Our destination for the day was the city of Leavenworth. This is a German Bavarian town with beer halls and German food. We weren't planning originally to visit Leavenworth, but a friend recommended it to Joe, and since we're a little ahead of schedule, we decided we had time. The town reminds you a little of The Sound of Music, and you really feel like you're in Germany or Austria. Here are some photos of this charming town. Note the Bavarian-themed Starbucks in the first photo.

The weather is very hot. When I looked up what the temperature would be in Leavenworth today, the app said 102. I had to double check to make sure I looked up Leavenworth, Washington and not Leavenworth, Kansas.
After leaving Leavenworth, we headed back to our campground, which was only a few miles away. It appears that our camping neighbors just might be the Partridge Family! "What am I so afraid of?" Why does that song keep going through my head?

Might be best to sing songs from sound of music instead and remember that Beautiful German town architecture ! Lol

Yes, songs from Sound of Music, definitely. While in Leavenworth, I half expected to see the Von Trapp family come skipping and dancing down the street singing "Do Re Mi" while dressed in the family curtains.
DeleteYou should have pucked some Fuji apples… one of my favorites too!
